Sedil 10 mg/2 ml IV/IM Injection contains Diazepam 5 mg per ml (10 mg in a 2 ml ampoule). It is an injectable benzodiazepine with rapid anxiolytic, sedative, anticonvulsant, muscle relaxant, and amnestic properties that acts by enhancing the activity of the inhibitory neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the central nervous system.
Emergency management of acute severe anxiety states, panic attacks, or acute severe agitation/psychomotor excitement.
Control of status epilepticus, acute convulsive states, and severe muscle spasms (e.g., tetanus).
Management of severe acute alcohol withdrawal symptoms (delirium tremens).
Sedation and premedication prior to surgical procedures, cardioversion, cardiac catheterization, or endoscopic interventions.
Adults: Typically 10 mg to 20 mg via slow intravenous (IV) injection or deep intramuscular (IM) injection, depending on the clinical indication and patient response. Repeat as clinically needed or as prescribed.
Administration should be performed slowly into a large vein (at a rate not exceeding 5 mg/minute in adults) or via deep IM injection.
Must be administered strictly by or under the direct supervision of a healthcare professional in a monitored clinical setting.
