FUCLAV contains:
- Cefuroxime Axetil 250 mg
- Clavulanic Acid 62.5 mg
It is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections, especially those caused by resistant bacteria.
Description
FUCLAV combines:
- Cefuroxime → kills bacteria by stopping cell wall formation
- Clavulanic acid → prevents bacterial resistance by blocking beta-lactamase enzymes
This combination makes the antibiotic more effective against resistant infections.
Uses
- Respiratory tract infections (bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis)
- Ear, nose, and throat infections (tonsillitis, otitis media)
- Urinary tract infections (UTI)
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Dental infections
- Other bacterial infections prescribed by a doctor
Typical Dose
- Usual adult dose:
- Duration usually 5–10 days, depending on infection type and severity
- Dose may change for children or kidney disease patients
How to Take
- Take after food (reduces stomach upset)
- Swallow with water
- Take at regular intervals (every 12 hours)
