Limpet 1mg Tablet is an oral blood glucose-lowering drug used to help manage type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Management of Type 2 Diabetes: Used alongside a proper diet and physical exercise to lower high blood sugar levels in adults whose hyperglycemia cannot be controlled by lifestyle modifications alone.
Combination Therapy: Can be prescribed in combination with other oral antidiabetic drugs (like metformin) or with insulin when a single medication is not sufficient to achieve target blood sugar control.
Starting Dose: The standard initial dose is 1mg taken once daily.
Dose Adjustments: If necessary, your physician may gradually increase the daily dosage based on regular blood sugar monitoring, stepping up in intervals of 1 to 2 weeks (e.g., 1mg to 2mg, then up to a maximum recommended dose of 6mg or 8mg daily).
Maintenance Dose: For most well-controlled individuals, the standard maintenance dosage range is between 1mg and 4mg daily.
Take this tablet exactly as directed by your doctor. It should be swallowed whole with a full glass of water.
Timing is critical: Take your single daily dose immediately before or during a substantial breakfast.
Never skip meals: Because this medication actively triggers insulin release, it is incredibly important to eat regular, carbohydrate-containing meals after taking it to prevent a rapid drop in blood sugar.
Hypoglycemia (Low Blood Sugar): This is the most common side effect.
Temporary blurred vision (especially when starting treatment due to changing blood sugar levels).
Mild gastrointestinal discomfort such as nausea, vomiting, a feeling of fullness, or mild diarrhea.
Hypoglycemia Management: Always carry a quick-acting source of sugar with you (such as fruit juice, glucose tablets, or hard candy) in case your blood sugar drops too low.
Not for Type 1 Diabetes: Limpet is not suitable for treating Type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, or diabetic comas, as it requires functioning pancreatic cells to work.
Contraindications: Do not take this medicine if you suffer from severe liver malfunction, severe kidney impairment, or if you are undergoing dialysis.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: This medication must not be taken during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
Store the tablets below 30°C in a dry place, completely away from direct sunlight and safely out of reach of children.
