It is a combination oral antidiabetic medication where Glimepiride (a sulfonylurea) stimulates the pancreas to release insulin, and Metformin (a biguanide) lowers hepatic glucose production and increases insulin sensitivity.
Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control.
