Levoflox 0.5% Eye Drop is a sterile, topical antibiotic solution formulated specifically to treat superficial bacterial infections of the eye. It contains Levofloxacin as its active ingredient, a potent fluoroquinolone antibiotic. When applied directly to the eye, it prevents bacterial cells from replicating and repairing their DNA, rapidly killing the bacteria responsible for inflammation, redness, and irritation.
Bacterial Conjunctivitis: Treatment of "pink eye" caused by susceptible bacterial strains.
Corneal Ulcers: Management of bacterial ulcers on the surface of the eye under close ophthalmologist supervision.
Pre/Post-Operative Prophylaxis: Used by eye surgeons to prevent bacterial contamination before or after ocular surgeries.
For Bacterial Conjunctivitis (Adults & Children 1 year or older):
Days 1 and 2: Instill 1 to 2 drops in the affected eye(s) every 2 hours while awake (up to 8 times daily).
Days 3 through 7: Instill 1 to 2 drops in the affected eye(s) every 4 hours while awake (up to 4 times daily).
Duration: The standard course typically lasts 7 days. Do not stop early, even if the eye looks and feels better.
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before opening the bottle.
Tilt your head back, look upward, and gently pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket.
Hold the dropper directly over the eye without letting the tip touch your eye, hands, eyelashes, or any other surface. This prevents contaminating the remaining solution.
Squeeze 1 drop into the pocket. Close your eye gently for 1 to 2 minutes and press your finger lightly against the inner corner of your eye (near the nose) to stop the medicine from draining into your tear duct.
If you are using other eye drops or ointments, wait at least 5 to 10 minutes between applications. Always apply drops before ointments.
Remove contact lenses before instilling the drops and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them.
Transient burning, stinging, or mild discomfort immediately after application.
Decreased or temporarily blurred vision.
Mild eye redness or a feeling like something is in the eye (foreign body sensation).
Headache or a bitter taste in the mouth (as the medicine drains into the throat).
Strictly for Ocular Use: This medicine is exclusively for topical application into the eyes. Never inject it or swallow it.
Avoid Contact Lenses: Do not wear contact lenses if you have active signs or symptoms of a bacterial eye infection.
Do Not Prolong Use: Prolonged use of antibiotics can result in the overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, including fungi.
Driving Safety: This medication may cause temporary blurred vision immediately after instillation. Avoid driving or operating machinery until your vision completely clears.
Pregnancy and Lactation: Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only if clearly prescribed by your eye doctor.
Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use. Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C and discard any remaining solution 4 weeks after first opening the bottle.
