PROLERT 20MG CAPSULE

Prolert 20mg (primarily distributed in capsule form) contains Fluoxetine Hydrochloride (equivalent to 20 mg Fluoxetine). It is a Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI) class antidepressant. It acts by selectively inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin at the presynaptic neuronal membrane, increasing the concentration of this neurotransmitter in the central nervous system to enhance mood and reduce anxiety.

Treatment of Major Depressive Disorder (clinical depression)
Management of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Treatment of Panic Disorder (with or without agoraphobia)
Management of eating disorders, specifically Bulimia Nervosa
Treatment of Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD)

Typical Dose

Depression & OCD: The standard starting dose for adults is 20 mg (1 capsule) taken once daily, usually in the morning. If necessary, a doctor may adjust this gradually up to a maximum of 80 mg daily.
Bulimia Nervosa: The standard therapeutic dose is typically higher, recommended at 60 mg once daily.
Administration: Can be taken with or without food. It may take 4 weeks or longer to experience the full clinical benefit.
Use strictly as prescribed by a physician. Never stop taking this medication abruptly without consulting your doctor, as doing so can trigger withdrawal symptoms.
