Bemodic 180mg Tablet is an oral prescription lipid-lowering medication manufactured by Drug International Ltd.
Heterozygous Familial Hypercholesterolemia (HeFH): Prescribed alongside an optimal low-fat diet and maximum tolerated statin therapy to further lower low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) in adults with this inherited high-cholesterol condition.
Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease (ASCVD): Indicated for adults with established cardiovascular disease (such as a history of heart attacks or narrow arteries) who require additional reduction of bad cholesterol despite taking their maximum tolerated daily statin dose.
Standard Adult Dose: 180mg (1 tablet) taken once daily.
Lipid Monitoring: Doctors usually re-evaluate your fasting blood lipid levels within 8 to 12 weeks after starting the treatment to track its clinical effectiveness.
Take this tablet once daily at the same time each day to ensure steady therapeutic levels in your body.
It can be taken with or without food, swallowed whole with a full glass of water.
Statin Dosing Interactions (Crucial Warning): If you take Bemodic alongside certain cholesterol-lowering statins, the statin levels can rise in your bloodstream, increasing your risk of muscle pain.
If taking Simvastatin, your dose must not exceed 20mg daily.
If taking Pravastatin, your dose must not exceed 40mg daily.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding Warning: This medication must be completely discontinued as soon as a pregnancy is recognized, as it can interfere with fetal development. Women of childbearing age should use highly effective contraception during treatment. Breastfeeding is strictly not recommended while taking Bempedoic Acid.
Upper respiratory tract infections or bronchitis.
Muscle spasms, back pain, or pain in the extremities (arms/legs).
Abdominal pain, discomfort, or mild anemia.
Elevated liver enzymes (asymptomatic shifts in ALT/AST levels).
Hyperuricemia (High Uric Acid): This medication reduces how much uric acid your kidneys excrete, which can raise blood levels within the first 4 weeks of treatment.
Tendon Rupture Warning: Bempedoic acid is associated with an increased risk of tendon inflammation and rupture (most commonly the Achilles tendon).
