Muron 2% Ointment 10gm is a topical prescription antibiotic manufactured by Drug International Ltd.
Treatment of Impetigo: Primarily used to cure impetigo, a highly contagious superficial skin infection characterized by red sores or crusty, honey-colored patches.
Folliculitis and Furunculosis: Prescribed to clear up inflamed, infected hair follicles (folliculitis) and deeper, painful skin boils (furunculosis).
Secondary Skin Infections: Helps treat small traumatic lesions, such as minor cuts, scrapes, or stitched wounds that have become secondary infected with bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus or Streptococcus pyogenes.
Standard Adult and Child Dose (Ages 2 months and older): Apply a small, thin film of the ointment to the completely cleaned and dried affected area 3 times daily.
Duration of Treatment: Typically used continuously for 5 to 10 days, depending on how quickly the infection clears. If your skin condition shows zero improvement within 3 to 5 days, consult your healthcare provider.
This medication is strictly for external use on the skin only.
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water both before and after applying the ointment (unless you are treating an infection on your hands).
Gently clean the affected skin area with mild soap and dry it completely before dabbing on a small amount of the ointment.
If preferred or directed by your doctor, you can loosely cover the treated area with a sterile gauze bandage.
Muron is applied locally and is usually exceptionally well-tolerated. Minor localized reactions can include:
A temporary burning, stinging, or mild pain at the application site.
Skin itching or redness.
Dry skin or mild swelling around the treated area.
