METRYL 500mg/100ml IV Injection contains Metronidazole 500 mg/100 ml. It is an antibiotic and antiprotozoal medicine (nitroimidazole group) used for the treatment of infections caused by anaerobic bacteria and certain parasites.

Uses:

Treatment of anaerobic bacterial infections.
Prevention of post-operative infections caused by anaerobic bacteria.
Treatment of septicemia, bacteremia, peritonitis, brain abscess, pelvic infections, and wound infections caused by anaerobic organisms.
Treatment of amoebiasis (intestinal and extra-intestinal).
Treatment of giardiasis.
Treatment of trichomoniasis and bacterial vaginosis.
Treatment of acute dental infections caused by anaerobic bacteria.

Dose:

Administer by intravenous infusion only under the supervision of a healthcare professional.
Adults and children over 12 years: Usually 500 mg every 8 hours by IV infusion, depending on the infection severity and physician's advice.
