Letrozol 2.5mg Tablet is an oral, non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor used primarily in the treatment of hormone-dependent breast cancer. It contains Letrozole as its active ingredient, which works by blocking the enzyme aromatase. This enzyme is responsible for producing estrogen in postmenopausal individuals. By lowering estrogen levels in the body, the medication effectively slows down or stops the growth of cancer cells that rely on this hormone to multiply.
Adjuvant Treatment: First-line treatment of postmenopausal individuals with hormone receptor-positive early breast cancer.
Extended Adjuvant Treatment: Continued therapy for individuals who have already completed standard tamoxifen therapy.
Advanced Breast Cancer: First-line or second-line treatment for postmenopausal individuals with advanced or metastatic breast cancer.
Off-Label Fertility Treatment: Sometimes prescribed by reproductive specialists to induce ovulation in individuals experiencing infertility.
Standard Adult Dose: 1 tablet (2.5mg) taken once daily.
Duration: For breast cancer treatment, therapy is typically long-term, often continuing for 5 years or as long as directed by an oncologist.
No dosage adjustment is generally required for elderly patients or those with mild to moderate liver/kidney impairment.
Take this tablet once daily at the same time every day, with or without food.
Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or split the tablet.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and return to your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
Hot flashes and increased sweating.
Joint pain (arthralgia), bone pain, or muscle aches.
Fatigue, unusual tiredness, or dizziness.
Headache.
Mild nausea or thinning of hair.
Increased cholesterol levels.
Bone Mineral Density: Since letrozole severely lowers estrogen, it can decrease bone mineral density and increase the risk of osteoporosis or bone fractures. Your doctor may monitor your bone health regularly.
Embryo-Fetal Toxicity: Letrozol is strictly for postmenopausal individuals. It must not be taken during pregnancy, as it can cause severe harm or birth defects to an unborn baby. Inform your doctor immediately if there is any chance you could be pregnant.
Driving and Machinery: This medication may cause fatigue or dizziness. Exercise caution when driving or operating machinery until you know how it affects you.
Store the tablets in a secure, dry place below 30°C, well out of reach of children and pets.
