Levoflox 750mg Tablet is a high-strength, broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic formulated to eliminate severe or complicated bacterial infections. It contains Levofloxacin as its active ingredient. The medication works by directly inhibiting essential bacterial enzymes required for DNA replication, transcription, and repair. By stopping the bacteria from reproducing, it rapidly kills the bacteria causing the illness, offering a shorter and more intensive treatment course for advanced infections.
Severe Respiratory Infections: Treatment of nosocomial (hospital-acquired) pneumonia and complicated community-acquired pneumonia.
Complicated Urinary Tract Infections: Management of advanced bladder infections and severe kidney infections (acute pyelonephritis).
Acute Bacterial Sinusitis: Eradication of severe, persistent sinus infections when lower doses are insufficient.
Complicated Skin Infections: Treatment of deep, severe bacterial infections affecting the skin, wounds, and deeper soft tissues.
Standard Adult Dose: 1 tablet (750mg) taken once daily.
Duration: Because of the higher strength, treatment courses are often shorter, typically lasting between 5 to 5 days for certain respiratory infections, or up to 14 days for complicated skin or kidney infections.
Kidney Impairment: Patients with compromised kidney function require careful monitoring and a custom dosage adjustment by their physician.
Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water. It can be taken with or without food, but taking it at the same time each day is highly recommended.
Hydration: Ensure you drink multiple glasses of water throughout the day to support your kidneys and prevent crystals from forming in your urine.
Spacing with Other Meds: Take Levoflox 750mg at least 2 hours before or 2 hours after consuming antacids (containing magnesium or aluminum), sucralfate, iron supplements, or multivitamins containing zinc, as these will block the antibiotic from absorbing.
Finish the Bottle: Even if your symptoms completely vanish after a couple of doses, you must finish the exact amount prescribed by your doctor to prevent the bacteria from mutating and becoming resistant.
Nausea, diarrhea, or constipation.
Headache, dizziness, or a feeling of lightheadedness.
Insomnia or vivid dreams.
Mild abdominal pain or changes in taste.
Tendon and Nerve Risks: Fluoroquinolones carry an increased risk of causing tendonitis and tendon rupture (especially the Achilles tendon), as well as peripheral neuropathy (nerve damage causing tingling or numbness). Stop taking the drug and call your doctor immediately if you feel sudden joint pain, swelling, numbness, or tingling.
Aortic Vessel Warning: This drug can increase the risk of a tear or rupture in the body's main artery (aortic aneurysm). Seek immediate emergency medical care if you experience sudden, severe, and tearing pain in your chest, back, or stomach.
Blood Sugar Fluctuations: Can cause severe changes in blood sugar levels, most commonly hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) in diabetic patients taking oral medications or insulin. Monitor your blood glucose closely.
Mental Health & Seizures: Can trigger or worsen central nervous system effects, including severe anxiety, confusion, tremors, hallucinations, or seizures. Use with caution if you have a history of epilepsy.
Sun Sensitivity: Your skin will be highly sensitive to UV rays. Avoid sunbeds and prolonged sun exposure; use SPF and wear protective clothing while outdoors.
Store the tablets in a cool, dry place below 30°C, kept safely away from children and pets.
