Description
This infusion contains essential and non-essential amino acids, especially branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), used to provide nutritional support in patients who cannot take adequate food orally or through tube feeding. It helps maintain protein balance and supports recovery in liver failure.
Uses
It is used for:
Severe liver failure (hepatic insufficiency)
Hepatic encephalopathy
Parenteral nutrition
Protein deficiency associated with liver disease
Critically ill patients unable to take normal nutrition
Typical Dose
Usually given by IV infusion under medical supervision.
Common dosing:
Infusion rate: 1.0–1.25mL/kg/hour
Maximum daily dose: 18.75mL/kg/day
Amino acid requirement: 1.5gaminoacids/kg/day
Dose depends on liver function, nutritional condition, kidney function, and metabolic stress.
